While driving down the highway or strolling on the street nearby, you must have come across “WE BUY HOUSES” signs. Also known as bandit signs, they may be as small as your notebook or as big as the blackboard. From trees, walls to telephone poles, they are put up on everything where they can be visible. Many home buying firms may find them cheaper and effective ways to advertise and generate leads. But it can’t be denied that these signs earn you a bad reputation because:
They are Illegal:
First of all, “WE BUY HOUSES” signs are illegal in many states across the US. The use of sign board to market your services will be considered illegal activity. California is one of the US states where laws are very strict and watchful for the violators. In Dallas Fort Worth, police traps the bandit signs owners by posing as the interested party; and owners are handcuffed when they go for appointment.
They are Not Trustworthy:
“WE BUY HOUSES” sign would not appeal to a sophisticated home seller as it doesn’t sound authentic. For example, a client won’t be impressed with the sign nailed on the tree written with bold marker as it may indicate hidden scam or malicious practices.
They Look Unprofessional:
Putting up a bandit sign on telephone pole or tree is not only illegal, but also makes a real estate investor look unprofessional. A responsible and good investor won’t resort to that kind of advertisement for his services. Instead, he prefers legal and permissible ways to attract the home sellers. Besides, social media, websites, listing services and e-mail campaigns have made it much easier for investor to market cheaply without violating the law.
